I have a question regarding the word "latter" in 1Timothy 4:1.
"Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and
doctrine of devils;"
When do/did the "latter" times begin?

A simple definition can be provided, but perhaps you would be better served if we helped you gather resources and understanding to begin to discover these things on your own.
I can point you to some great software tools, many free, that will be a great start. Beyond word definitions, I strongly recomend taking a begining Greek course.
Many a Christian, armed with a lexicon, claimed some biblical knowledge only to be wrong. I was the worst!

Thank you Justin  Yes, I would appreciate any/all resources you may recommend, as well as a beginning Greek course. Does this come with the meaning of "latter" times? ;D I agree that having only some biblical knowledge, much of which may be wrong is dangerous. Thank you for the example of "give a man a fish" vs "teach a man to fish". |

P.M. sent regarding resources.
As far as "latter" or "last", it's the Greek word uJstevpoiV (HUSTEROIS) and implies a sequence. So latter refers to the last or one of the last in a chain of events.
A good example is Matt 21:37 where it talks about the owner of the vineyard sending his son to the tenants who have already beaten the previous servants sent. The word 'finally' is our word uJstevpoiV and is used as the last step before he must come in and take action.
