I have a question regarding Romans 1:17 For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith. Is this talking about God, as the source of the "faith", giving the "faith" to those who are believing?

the phrase "from faith to faith" is the preposition in Greek ''EK" which means from out of faith(persuasion) as a source and "EIS" which means either into or unto the goal of(faith) The just(same word in Greek for righteous) one will live from "EK" from out of faith as a source. We know from Galatians 5:22 that the noun faith is a fruit of the Spirit. Hebrews 12 states Jesus is the Author and the Finisher of The Faith. I am assuming you have been following the studies from BTE and know that the root word of faith in Greek means to persuade and its noun form means persuasion because the early Hellenistic Greek speaking person knew that they worshipped the goddess peithas the goddess of persuasion in those days. The word faith in reference to the believer is most often used in a participle form ie. "believing" showing a habit of life. The description of faith is found in Hebrews 11, but the definition of faith is found by its root word in Greek. Does this help somewhat?

Basically Faith to Faith refers to the interaction of God's Spirit in one believer with the Spirit of God in another believer - it's what true fellowship is.
Spiritual interaction of believers is Faith to Faith.

Good point Justin. Just as Paul desired to see his brothers and sisters in Rome that they would be mutually encouraged by each other's faith. It's definitely something I need to be around believers as much as possible to be encouraged and strengthened by the Spirit living in others.

Thank you both You've both helped answer my question. True fellowship is revealed in His righteousness through His Spirit encouraging and strengthening, communing through one believer to another....Faith to Faith.

Key words His righteousness. A brother once said, "I fear many still envy Jesus" It's our nature to want to be as God and be righteous but funny thing we are just dust
