Richard Bennett brings up that we are all called to "go and make disciples". From what I remember from the Matthew studies, this is talking to the apostles... "after having gone", make disciples. This is talking to those who at that time were already saved.

shannon, You are correct about the translation of Matthew 28:19 being, "after having gone make disciples". The command in the text is "make disciples" and "after having gone" is also in the passive voice which shows us a little more. Jesus was talking to His disciples and we need to take a closer look at the Acts of the Apostles to understand the whole counsel of how their missionary work took place. The passive voice of the participle "after having gone" places emphasis on an outside circumstance such as the persecution of the faith in Acts which caused them to go out into Judea and Samaria after Pentecost. www.masteringthebible.com/studies/transcript-romans10-18

Thank you for referring back to the early church example. Yes, as noted, the Spirit of God moved the disciples to the various mission fields via circumstances He allowed to serve His purposes. The transcribe of the sermon of Romans 10:18 is very helpful on this subject. There is so much pressure and stress placed on the church by false teachers to go out and perform and do God's work of saving individuals. It becomes man's useless efforts, instead of His Spirit doing His will.

Agreed shannon. Today's day and age the Lord seems to be unchurching the churched and evangelizing unbelieving believers.

Well said, retzev Yes, the Lord is removing the pressure of me performing/doing His work for Him instead of His Spirit working through me. Many are "working/serving" out of compulsion and fear, rather than His Spirit moving in/through believers.

That is a blessing, shannon. Even knowing the Truth and yielding to the Holy Spirit as a living sacrifice is difficult let alone all the false teaching that has to be undone be the renewing of the spirit of our minds. One thing remains constant and that is the faithfulness of, the Great I AM!!
